Yea I noticed this too when I was playtesting for the 1.2 version, It happens when you have exactly 4 skills. I've fixed it and it's part of the 1.2 patch waiting for apple's approval.
Right now skills come from completing quests, the "attacks" button on your stat bar determines how many swings you get per combat attack effectively being a damage multiplier. So at level 10 you got your
3rd attack meaning you now do up to 33% more damage with the same weapon you were using before reaching that level. You get a new "attack" every 5 levels, and you get a new combat skill for every main story quest. In future expansions I'll probably tie gaining the special skills to some other achievement but haven't ironed out all of those details yet.
Thanks I really glad you like the game and agree with everything you said in your review. I think the game is a bit hard to get started with, I wish I'd done a tutorial level and introduction, but once you get going it's fun and challenging. I have a lot of great ideas for expansions to make combat and questing even more fun and varied.
BTW your doing well. Level 10 is no easy feat to get to.
